Since I am using my examples, this is going to be a description of the techniques that I use. Loops: Loops are chunks of audio data that can loop from
beginning to end. Here are some loops.
If looped, these files would sound like a repeatable melody. Loops can be layered to construct a song I either sequence a loop, which involves using midi to program a sequence of notes, or I record a wav file and manually set the start and end points for the loop.
