Dr. Jennifer Trueblood (CV)

Postdoctoral Fellows

Nathan Evans

Nathan completed his PhD in 2017 at the University of Newcastle, working in the Newcastle Cognition Lab under Professor Scott Brown. Nathan's research is primarily within the area of mathematical psychology, with a large focus on applying, extending, and testing evidence accumulation models of decision-making. At a more general level, his key research interests involve assessing and extending the current methods used to compare mathematical models of cognition, applying formalized mathematical models to a wide range of different research fields, and contrasting the methods and philosophies that are used to test scientific theories.

James Yearsley (CV)

James has a background in theoretical physics, with a PhD from Imperial College London and post doc experience at the University of Cambridge. He moved to cognitive science to work on physics inspired models of cognition, particularly models of judgment and decision making based on the mathematics of quantum theory. More generally, he is interested in the way particular cognitive models might either be derived from underlying neural behaviour, or deduced as specific instances of a more general information processing framework.

Graduate Students

Siyuan Yin

Siyuan studied psychology and German, and earned her MD from Zhejiang University. She was also visiting Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin and did a clinical rotation in University of California at Los Angles. Prior to joining Dr Trueblood's Judgment and Decision-making Lab, she had extensive experience in clinical medicine, specialized in neurosurgery, and primate neurophysiological analysis. Inspired by her study in moral judgment and medical ethics, she found her interests in decision making and judgment, moral judgment, causal reasoning, and behavioral economics.
