Since the interview is lengthy, it is broken into three parts. Part 1 covers Bill's early history, college at Bucknell, PhD from Carnegie-Mellon, and first job at the Medical School, University of Pittsburg. It is 24 minutes long.

In Part 2, Bill explains his decision to leave the Medical School, meets Oakley Ray, and gives a hilarious account of being hired by Vanderbilt. Also covered are overseeing the Honors Program, and his years as Department Chair. It is 37 minutes long.

Play Part 2

Part 3 covers the history of approving, planning, and building Wilson Hall, in which Bill played a critical role. Included is his entertaining account of Dean Voegeli's visit to the deteriorating Wesley Hall. The interview concludes with his retirement decision and post-retirement activities. It is 23 minutes long.
