I moved then to Vanderbilt – so this is going to be a short part. This is over in Stevenson Center where I had the lab. In Learned Lab we didn’t have such nice cages for monkeys because my total set-up money moving as an Assistant Professor was $15,000. I had to spend $7000 of that immediately to get a microscope, and I had to spend most of the rest of that to support a student. That left me with $5. I got wire trash burners to house some monkeys which we got for free. That didn’t last too long – it lasted longer than it would now days [laughter] and we got cages on walls.

Now this is where my office was [laughter]. My office was right here [points to 2nd floor North side of building]. This is Wesley, and it was in bad shape when I was there, but it wasn’t this bad. This is when they decided to tear it down.
