Now at the University of Wisconsin we had a lot of people from different countries coming. And this is Ken Sanderson who worked with P. O. Bishop in Australia. Here’s P. O. Bishop and Ken Sanderson.

Ken managed to stay single for many years until an American tourist came – so he could be reformed – and then he got married.

 

And when they visited Vanderbilt a few years later – we’re over in the student pub here – I said Ken let’s have a beer, and he was just reaching to get a beer, and his wife [motioned no, no] and that was it – no beer for Ken [laughter]. It’s tough, really tough for an Australian to not have beer. Ken worked with Ray Guillery – with P. O. Bishop he did one of the best studies of the lateral geniculate nucleus with cats, it was possible, he identified a projection unit that goes to cortex and his illustrations are used to this day.
