Now to one of the students of Nauta, Ann Graybiel. This is a former student of mine here at Vanderbilt, Mriganka Sur with Ann.
Ann is now Chair of what used to be Psychology and is now Brain and Cognitive Science at MIT.
Former student of Nauta, Ann Graybiel got the Presidential Science award in 2002 recognizing her contribution – the only sad thing about it is that Bush was President. [laughter]. The reason I bring this up is I am a great fan of MIT, but I am also a great fan of Duke. If Duke had hired Nauta I always think of what a difference that would have made to the progression of neuroscience and psychology at Duke. One of the things that happened was that divisions in the department continued and eventually the neuroscience people left and went into a neuroscience department. And the psychology department couldn’t stand each other and they divided into two departments and only recently re-grouped. Next Page
