| My scientific and scholarly interests focus on visual perception: How do the eyes and brain acquire information about the environment? Three current research projects aim to (a) develop a representational theory of information, to be presented as a research monograph on “Information, form, and human knowledge acquisition”, (b) analyze effects of low vision on perception of moving and stationary patterns in the peripheral visual field, and (c) elucidate the mechanisms for perceiving motion and the spatial structure of moving patterns. Ongoing additional research interests concern the perception of surface structure as a basis for spatial vision and the perception of large-scale spatial relations in natural environments. |
