A. The "Big Bang" and Deep Time

B. The Replicator (about 3 1/2 billion years ago)

Common Origin of All Life

C. Darwin's Natural Selection

The Replicatorr Makes Copies of Itself

Copying Mistakes Occur, Mutations Occur Over Time

These Changes are Inheritable

The Number of Species Increases as Variation Occurs

BUT, There Are Always Limited Resources

There Is Therefore Differential Survival or Survival of The Fittest

"Multiply, Vary, Let the fittest Live and the Least Fit Die."

D. "Our Story"

8-14 Million Years Ago

Forests in East Africa were Disappearing, Creating a Savannah 4-6 Million Years Ago

Hominids (Erect, Upright Walking) and Ape Lines Diverged

"Lucy" Australopithecus Afarensis (3.6 Million Years Old) Bipedalism

2.5 Million Years Ago

Homo Habilis (1.9 million Years Ago)

Invention of Tool Making, the Purposeful Crafting of Stone Implements

Meat Eating, Energy-rich - High Fat Diet

1-2 Million Years Ago

Homo Erectus (1.7 Millin Years Ago)

Dramatic Growth in the Brain

40,000 Years Ago

Homo Sapiens

Learned to Use Brain Power for Abstract Thought

Art, Music, Language

E. The Importance of the Hips

Human Back Not Designed to Support Weight of Body

Pelvis Had to Grow Thicker than that of Apes

But the Thickened Pelvis Made the Birth Canal Much Smaller

While the Brain and Therefore the Head was Getting Larger and Larger

Infants Therefore Had to be Born More and More prematurely, More Dependent

From this Last Fact has Emerged Many of the Structural and Behavioral Differences

between Human Males and Females.
