Conception: the Marriage of Ovum and Sperm

Ovulation and Menstruation

Hypothalamus--> GnRH--> Ant Pituitary--> FSH-->

Follicle in Ovary Starts to Grow--> Low Estrogen--> Inhibits FSH Release--> High Estrogen--> Stimulates Release of Pituitary LH--> Ovulation-->

Ruptured Follicle Becomes the Corpus Luteum-->

Corpus Luteum Secretes Estrogen and Progesterone-->

Inhibits Release of LH and

Stimulates Continued Growth of Endometrium

Implantation of Fertilized Egg or Menstruation

Fallopian Tubes

Tubal or Ectopic Pregnancy

Dysmenorrhea

Secondary Dysmenorrhea, PID, Endometriosis
